John L. Abitante is a licensed CPA in Florida, New York and Oregon and a Partner of Berney, DuBoff & Abitante PL. formerly with Hirsh, Berney & Company where he was a senior staffer. John graduated Florida International University with a B.B.A. in accounting and Masters in Taxation in 1986 and 1995 respectively. John spent his formative years in accounting with Deloitte &Touche legacy Touche Ross before starting his own practice.
John is a member of the AICPA and FICPA and over the years has presented various public speaking engagements and television appearances on numerous topics including income tax planning, accounting and auditing, internal controls and various issues on fraud risk. He also served as president for the Florida International Accounting Association, RUCK Network of Accounting Professionals and BNI.
In addition, John has testified as an expert witness in Dade and Broward Counties on various litigation matters and is currently pursuing a CVA designation.
In 2008, John once again joined Robert Berney and formed Berney, DuBoff & Abitante PL.
